The ProblemEvery Single Time (well, 4 times out of 4, to date, on different
machines) I run a scheduled (at boot) SCANDISK (ChkDsk) in Windows XP
Professional, the computer hangs. It re-starts, scans the hard drive, and
locks up. Period. You can re-start, and re-scan, and it still
freezes. You can skip the scan-disk, and it still freezes. The computer is stuck in a loop. You could re-install, but that would be a major pain in the ass. Here's a much better plan:
The SolutionMicrosoft claims that it's due to a "corrupted registry". Hmm.... so how come it happens EVERY TIME?!?!?! Anyway, here's the solution, which, although it takes a few minutes, works EXTREMELY well. Thanks to XP's Restore Point system. Follow Microsoft's instructions here: |
